Career.zycto is excited to facilitate an opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Childcare Helper Trainee to join a vibrant early learning centre in the heart of Steveston, Richmond. This full-time trainee position is designed for individuals with little to no prior professional childcare experience but possess a genuine love for children and a strong desire to learn and grow within the field.
As a Childcare Helper Trainee, you will work closely under the guidance of experienced Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) and assistants, gaining practical, hands-on experience in a supportive and stimulating environment. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe, engaging, and nurturing atmosphere where children can thrive developmentally, socially, and emotionally. You will observe, assist, and eventually lead various activities, learning best practices in child supervision, activity planning, communication with parents, and maintaining a healthy and organized childcare space. Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead educators in supervising children during various activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Support the preparation and execution of daily educational and recreational programs, including arts and crafts, storytelling, and outdoor play.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic learning environment, assisting with tidying up and sanitizing toys and equipment.
- Observe and learn effective communication techniques with children, parents, and colleagues, fostering positive relationships.
- Assist children with daily routines such as meal times, nap times, and toileting, promoting independence.
- Participate actively in team meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to all provincial childcare regulations, centre policies, and safety standards.
- Provide basic administrative support as needed, such as preparing materials or organizing supplies.
Required Skills
- Genuine passion for working with children aged 0-5 years.
- Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with children and adults.
- High level of patience, empathy, and a nurturing disposition.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Capacity to follow instructions and work collaboratively within a team.
- Basic understanding of child development principles (or willingness to learn rapidly).

Preferred Qualifications

- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within a probationary period).
