Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of childcare practitioners, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and compliant environment for all children.
  • Develop and implement engaging educational programs and activities aligned with early years frameworks.
  • Maintain excellent communication with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and well-being.
  • Ensure adherence to all safeguarding policies, health and safety regulations, and OFSTED requirements.
  • Conduct regular observations and assessments of children's development, providing feedback to staff and parents.
  • Manage staff rotas and allocate duties effectively to ensure optimal child-to-staff ratios.
  • Facilitate staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Handle parent inquiries and concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Act as a key person for a group of children, building strong relationships.

Required Skills

  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience within a childcare setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of early childhood development and relevant educational frameworks (e.g., EYFS).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in creating and implementing engaging learning activities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing operational needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A full and relevant Level 3 childcare qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Children's Learning and Development).
  • Paediatric First Aid qualification.
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead training.
  • Experience with childcare management software.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
