Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily operations of the childcare setting, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and positive environment.
- Mentor, support, and supervise a team of early years educators, fostering professional growth and a collaborative team spirit.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safeguarding policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
- Oversee the development and implementation of a diverse range of age-appropriate, engaging, and educational activities aligned with the EYFS framework.
- Maintain open, proactive, and positive communication with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress and wellbeing.
- Manage staff rotas and ensure appropriate child-to-staff ratios are consistently met.
- Conduct regular observations and assessments of children's development, providing feedback and planning next steps.
- Support the continuous professional development of team members through training, guidance, and performance reviews.
- Assist with administrative tasks, record-keeping, and maintain accurate child attendance and development records.
Required Skills
- NVQ Level 3 in Early Years Education and Care or an equivalent recognized qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a childcare setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Current Paediatric First Aid qualification.
- A valid Enhanced DBS check, registered with the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team effectively and work collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Degree in Early Childhood Studies or a related field.
- Additional training or certifications in safeguarding, SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), or behaviour management.
- Experience working with diverse age groups (e.g., babies, toddlers, preschoolers).
- Familiarity with local authority guidelines and inspection processes (e.g., Ofsted).
