Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of childcare practitioners, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
- Oversee the daily planning and implementation of engaging, age-appropriate educational activities and play experiences.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, health and safety standards, and company policies.
- Foster strong, positive relationships with children, parents, and caregivers, providing regular updates on progress and addressing concerns.
- Manage staff scheduling, breaks, and coverage to ensure optimal ratios and smooth operation.
- Conduct regular assessments of children's development and maintain accurate records.
- Assist in the development and review of childcare policies, procedures, and curriculum.
- Act as a key point of contact for parents, resolving issues and facilitating effective communication.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating learning environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Required Skills
- SVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People (or equivalent recognised qualification)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a childcare setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role
- Thorough understanding of relevant childcare legislation and best practices (e.g., Care Inspectorate standards)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate a team
- First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Enhanced PVG Scheme membership (or willingness to apply)
Preferred Qualifications
- BA in Childhood Practice or equivalent higher-level qualification
- Experience with curriculum development and implementation (e.g., Pre-Birth to Three, Curriculum for Excellence)
- Proficiency in using childcare management software
- Additional training in special educational needs (SEN) or child protection
