Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of childcare practitioners, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Implement and uphold all policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, and welfare.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of engaging, age-appropriate educational activities and programs.
  • Conduct regular observations and assessments of children’s development, maintaining accurate records.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with children, parents, and caregivers, providing regular updates on progress.
  • Support the Centre Manager in the day-to-day operations, including scheduling and resource management.
  • Mentor and train new staff members, ensuring adherence to best practices and company standards.
  • Participate actively in all provided training and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure the childcare environment is clean, safe, and stimulating for all children.

Required Skills

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Early Years, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working with children in an early years setting (e.g., nursery, preschool).
  • Strong understanding of child development and early years foundation phase frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and staff.
  • A patient, caring, and enthusiastic approach to childcare.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate initiative.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a senior or key worker role.
  • Paediatric First Aid qualification.
  • Knowledge of Welsh language and culture.
