Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and supervision to children in various settings (e.g., home, community).
- Assist with daily routines, including personal care, meal times, and bedtime preparation.
- Organise and lead engaging, age-appropriate play activities that promote physical, social, and cognitive development.
- Support children with homework and educational activities as required.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and stimulating environment at all times.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with children, parents/guardians, and other team members.
- Administer medication as per training and protocol, if required and appropriately delegated.
- Maintain accurate records of activities, incidents, and child progress, adhering to confidentiality guidelines.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
- Proven patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to childcare.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail regarding children's needs and well-being.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and strict confidentiality.
- Basic understanding of child development stages and age-appropriate care practices.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one promptly).
Preferred Qualifications
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare, Early Years, Health and Social Care, or a related field.
- Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN) or disabilities.
- Current First Aid and Paediatric First Aid certification.
- Previous experience in a similar support worker, nanny, or nursery assistant role.
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the local community.
