Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer with a strong background in both building and road infrastructure projects to join our dynamic team in Floreal, Curepipe. This pivotal role involves overseeing the full lifecycle of diverse civil engineering projects, from initial design and planning through to execution, monitoring, and successful completion. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise civil engineering projects, specifically focusing on building construction and road infrastructure, from conception to handover.
- Prepare detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring adherence to financial and timeline constraints.
- Conduct thorough site investigations, risk assessments, and feasibility studies to inform optimal design and construction methodologies.
- Review and approve technical designs, detailed drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) in compliance with relevant local and international codes and standards.
- Oversee on-site construction activities, ensuring rigorous quality control, strict safety compliance, and efficient resource utilization.
- Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and local authorities to ensure seamless project progression and clear communication.
- Monitor project progress diligently, identify potential issues or deviations, and implement timely and effective corrective actions proactively.
- Prepare regular comprehensive project reports, progress updates, and detailed technical documentation for all stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative, supportive, and learning-oriented environment.
- Ensure strict adherence to environmental regulations and actively promote sustainable construction practices throughout project lifecycles.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized and accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in civil engineering roles, with demonstrable project experience in both building and road construction.
- Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Staad.Pro, Revit).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and relevant local building codes and regulations in Mauritius.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and leadership skills with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Fluent in English and French (written and spoken) for effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
- Valid Mauritian driving license and access to reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related specialized field (e.g., Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering).
- Professional registration or membership with a recognized engineering body (e.g., Council of Registered Professional Engineers of Mauritius).
- Experience with FIDIC contracts and other international standard forms of contract.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management qualification.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing sustainable construction practices or green building certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM).
