Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer with a strong focus on building and road construction projects to join our dynamic team in Goodlands, Rivière du Rempart District. This pivotal role involves overseeing the entire project lifecycle, from initial design and planning through to execution and completion, ensuring all work adheres to the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities
- Design and prepare engineering plans, specifications, and reports for civil engineering projects, including buildings and roads.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring efficient project delivery within established timelines and cost parameters.
- Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
- Review and approve shop drawings, material submissions, and construction methodologies.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures and perform regular inspections.
- Prepare tender documents, evaluate bids, and manage contracts.
- Identify potential problems and provide innovative solutions to construction challenges.
- Ensure all projects comply with local building codes, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, specifically with building and road projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant engineering software.
- Strong understanding of structural design principles and construction methodologies.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and construction practices in Mauritius.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Project Management.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience with BIM software (e.g., Revit).
- Familiarity with FIDIC contract conditions.
