Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer with a strong background in both design and construction to join our dynamic team in Stanley, Rose Hill. This pivotal role involves overseeing projects from their initial conceptual design phases through to successful completion and handover. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring that all projects adhere to the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, specifically within the Mauritian context. You will be responsible for translating engineering designs into tangible construction outcomes, managing project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage civil engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to design specifications, budgets, and schedules.
  • Conduct detailed site investigations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to inform design and construction methodologies.
  • Prepare, review, and approve engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and tender documents in compliance with local and international standards.
  • Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring quality control, health and safety regulations, and project progress are maintained.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Perform structural analysis and design calculations for various civil engineering structures, including roads, bridges, drainage systems, and buildings.
  • Monitor project expenditure, manage variations, and prepare regular progress reports for management and clients.
  • Implement and enforce quality assurance protocols throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Resolve technical issues and challenges that arise during design and construction phases proactively.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant engineering design software (e.g., structural analysis programs).
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
  • In-depth knowledge of Mauritian building codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards professional registration.
  • Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., road networks, marine structures, wastewater treatment plants).
  • Postgraduate qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Fluency in both English and French.
