Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute civil engineering design projects from concept to completion, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Conduct detailed structural analysis, calculations, and prepare comprehensive engineering drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit).
- Prepare technical specifications, bill of quantities, and tender documents for various construction projects.
- Supervise construction activities on-site, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, safety protocols, and project schedules.
- Perform quality control inspections, identify potential issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within financial constraints.
- Prepare regular progress reports, technical documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments to inform design and construction methodologies.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Proven experience (4+ years) in both civil engineering design and construction management.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro).
- Expertise in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) for drafting and modelling.
- Strong understanding of local and international building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in site supervision, quality control, and project management.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French (Creole is a plus).
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) licensure or equivalent professional accreditation (e.g., COEN in Mauritius).
- Experience with sustainable design principles and green building certifications.
- Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6).
- Proven track record of managing projects from inception to handover.
- Experience in specific sectors such as commercial, residential, or infrastructure development.
