Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer with a strong focus on design and construction to join our network of leading industry partners in Curepipe, Mauritius. This pivotal role involves contributing to diverse infrastructure projects, from concept development through to successful completion. As a Civil Engineer specializing in both design and construction, you will be instrumental in transforming initial ideas into tangible structures that enhance the community and economy of Mauritius. Your day-to-day will involve hands-on design work, utilizing industry-standard software to create detailed plans and specifications that comply with local and international standards. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive site investigations and feasibility studies to inform project design.
- Design and develop detailed engineering plans, specifications, and drawings using CAD and other relevant software.
- Perform structural analysis and calculations for various civil engineering projects, including buildings, roads, bridges, and water systems.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant local building codes, regulations, and international engineering standards.
- Oversee and manage construction activities on-site, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement effective solutions during construction phases.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Prepare tender documents, evaluate bids, and assist in contractor selection.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety regulations.
- Prepare detailed reports, project documentation, and presentations for stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in civil engineering design and construction.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS).
- Strong understanding of Mauritian building codes, regulations, and construction practices.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and site supervision.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and French.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license or eligibility for registration in Mauritius.
- Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) software.
- Familiarity with environmental impact assessments and sustainable engineering practices.
- Proven track record in designing and managing projects involving infrastructure, residential, or commercial developments.
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP).
