In this role, you will be involved in the entire project lifecycle, from initial conceptual design and feasibility studies to detailed design, construction support, and project closeout. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers with the design and analysis of various civil engineering projects, including site layouts, grading plans, utility designs, and stormwater management systems.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design calculations under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Conduct site visits and field investigations to gather data, assess existing conditions, and monitor construction progress.
  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) to prepare engineering drawings and plans.
  • Perform research on codes, regulations, and industry standards to ensure project compliance.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other team members to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
  • Participate in project meetings, contributing ideas and learning from experienced professionals.
  • Support the preparation of permit applications and regulatory submissions.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation and records.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development to enhance engineering skills and knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental civil engineering principles.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges and technologies.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for site visits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship or co-op experience in civil engineering.
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D or other civil design software.
  • Basic knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, StormCAD).
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Understanding of local zoning ordinances and permitting processes in Maryland.
