Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers with the design and analysis of various civil engineering projects, including site layouts, grading plans, utility designs, and stormwater management systems.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design calculations under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer.
- Conduct site visits and field investigations to gather data, assess existing conditions, and monitor construction progress.
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) to prepare engineering drawings and plans.
- Perform research on codes, regulations, and industry standards to ensure project compliance.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other team members to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
- Participate in project meetings, contributing ideas and learning from experienced professionals.
- Support the preparation of permit applications and regulatory submissions.
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation and records.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to enhance engineering skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Strong understanding of fundamental civil engineering principles.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges and technologies.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for site visits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or co-op experience in civil engineering.
- Familiarity with Civil 3D or other civil design software.
- Basic knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, StormCAD).
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Understanding of local zoning ordinances and permitting processes in Maryland.
