Alpha Mead Group is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineering Support Technician to join our dynamic team in Abijo, Lagos. This full-time, on-site role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to significant infrastructure and building projects, working alongside experienced civil engineers and project managers. As a Civil Engineering Support Technician, you will play a crucial role in the lifecycle of our projects, from initial design phases to on-site execution and completion. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the preparation of engineering designs, performing site inspections, collecting vital data, and ensuring that project documentation is meticulously maintained. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist civil engineers in the preparation of project plans, specifications, and design calculations.
  • Prepare and revise engineering drawings, schematics, and maps using AutoCAD and other relevant CAD software.
  • Conduct regular site visits to collect data, inspect ongoing work, and ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
  • Perform materials testing and quality control checks, documenting results accurately.
  • Collect and analyze survey data, soil samples, and other relevant information for project assessment.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including reports, logs, and correspondence.
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, material lists, and project schedules.
  • Ensure all work adheres to local building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for various engineering tasks as required.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant CAD software (e.g., Civil 3D).
  • Strong technical drawing and drafting skills.
  • Fundamental understanding of civil engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Excellent data collection, analysis, and reporting skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in a civil engineering or construction environment.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations in Lagos, Nigeria.
  • Experience with surveying equipment and techniques.
  • Familiarity with project management software.
