Career.zycto is seeking an enthusiastic Civil Engineering Trainee Technician to join our growing team in Lepage, Rimouski. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about civil engineering and eager to gain practical, hands-on experience in a supportive, collaborative environment. As a Trainee Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our engineering projects from conception through to completion, working closely with experienced civil engineers and senior technicians. You’ll learn project management, site supervision, drafting, and technical analysis.

Your role will involve a blend of office-based tasks and essential field work. You’ll assist in preparing technical drawings using CAD software, collect vital data from project sites, conduct basic calculations, and contribute to drafting reports. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist civil engineers and senior technicians in all phases of project development, from planning to execution.
  • Perform site visits to collect data, conduct surveys, and monitor construction activities under supervision.
  • Prepare and revise technical drawings, plans, and specifications using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
  • Conduct basic engineering calculations for material quantities, structural elements, and hydraulic systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and project documentation.
  • Maintain and calibrate field equipment, ensuring accuracy and readiness for use.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving and design discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards on all project sites.

Required Skills

  • Strong foundational knowledge in civil engineering principles, ideally from coursework.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Basic understanding of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) or willingness to learn rapidly.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation (for site visits).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree program in Civil Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in a civil engineering or construction environment.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and environmental standards in Quebec.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) would be an asset, given the location.
