Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Claims Adjuster to join our growing team in Ahuntsic, Montreal. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling insurance claims, primarily focusing on property and casualty lines. This isn’t just about processing paperwork; it’s about being a crucial point of contact for our policyholders during times of unexpected loss. You will manage a portfolio of claims from initial report to final resolution, ensuring fairness, accuracy, and adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.

Your day-to-day will involve conducting thorough investigations, which may include interviewing policyholders, witnesses, and other parties, inspecting damaged property, reviewing police reports, medical records, and other relevant documentation. You’ll analyze coverage, determine liability, and estimate repair costs, all while communicating complex information clearly and compassionately to our clients. Strong analytical skills combined with an empathetic approach are essential. Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle insurance claims in accordance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Conduct thorough interviews with policyholders, witnesses, and other relevant parties to gather essential information.
  • Inspect damaged properties and gather necessary documentation, including photos, reports, and repair estimates.
  • Analyze policy coverage to accurately determine claim eligibility and appropriate benefits.
  • Estimate damage costs and prepare detailed, comprehensive claim reports.
  • Communicate regularly and empathetically with policyholders, providing updates and clearly explaining the claims process.
  • Collaborate effectively with legal counsel, contractors, and other third parties as needed for complex claims.
  • Identify and report suspicious or fraudulent claims, initiating further investigation where warranted.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date claim files and documentation.
  • Adhere strictly to all provincial and federal insurance laws, ethical standards, and company procedures.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Claims Adjuster, preferably in property and casualty.
  • Strong understanding of insurance policies, coverage types, and claims processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal), with proficiency in English and French.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively and prioritize tasks under pressure.
  • Proficiency in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for potential site visits.
  • Demonstrated high level of integrity, ethical conduct, and discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) designation or actively pursuing.
  • Direct experience handling claims specifically within the Quebec market.
  • Bilingualism (fluent in both English and French) is highly advantageous.
