Baraza Resort and Spa Zanzibar is looking for a meticulous and dedicated Part-Time Cleaning Janitorial Specialist to join our esteemed Housekeeping team in the beautiful Robinson Area, Bwejuu. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, hygiene, and pristine appearance of our luxurious resort premises, including guest villas, suites, common areas, and back-of-house facilities. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties in guest rooms, suites, villas, and common areas, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, and polishing surfaces.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms, kitchens, and other facilities to the highest hygiene and resort standards.
- Empty waste bins, transport waste to designated disposal areas, and ensure proper waste segregation.
- Replenish amenities and supplies in designated areas as per resort specifications.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring its longevity.
- Report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards observed during cleaning tasks promptly.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and hygiene regulations and resort policies at all times.
- Handle cleaning chemicals and materials responsibly, ensuring proper dilution and usage according to safety guidelines.
- Assist with laundry duties, including sorting, washing, drying, and folding linens and towels, when required.
- Collaborate effectively with the housekeeping team and other resort departments to ensure seamless operations and guest satisfaction.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor towards guests and colleagues at all times, upholding the resort's reputation.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in cleaning or janitorial services, preferably in a hospitality or commercial setting for a minimum of 6 months.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining exceptionally high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to complete tasks efficiently within given deadlines.
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods during shifts.
- Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and their safe usage, including COSHH principles where applicable.
- Reliable, punctual, and possessing a strong, proactive work ethic.
- Ability to communicate basic information in English or Swahili effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically within a luxury hotel or resort environment.
- Knowledge of eco-friendly cleaning practices and sustainable waste management.
- Additional language proficiency (e.g., German, French, Italian) to better interact with international guests.
- Certification in hygiene and sanitation or related vocational training.
