Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, whilst maintaining their dignity and respect.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) accurately and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
- Support registered nurses and other healthcare professionals in the delivery of patient care, following established care plans.
- Assist with patient observations, document findings, and contribute to patient assessment and evaluation processes.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment for patients, adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, their families, and the wider healthcare team.
- Assist with the preparation of patients for examinations, procedures, or transfers.
- Ensure patient comfort and well-being, responding promptly to call bells and patient requests.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Accurately complete all necessary documentation and records in line with organisational policies.
Required Skills
- GCSEs at grade C/4 or above in English and Maths, or equivalent vocational qualification.
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable experience in a care setting (e.g., hospital, residential home, community care).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic IT literacy for record-keeping.
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronic patient record systems.
- First Aid certification.
- Manual handling training.
- Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology.
