Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal care, mobility, feeding, and hydration, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
  • Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and report any changes or concerns to registered nurses.
  • Support patients in maintaining their independence, providing encouragement and assistance as needed.
  • Document observations accurately and promptly in patient records, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Prepare patients for clinical procedures, examinations, and treatments, offering reassurance and support.
  • Assist qualified nurses with clinical tasks, as delegated and within scope of practice.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and organised environment for patients, adhering to infection control policies.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families, communicating effectively and empathetically.
  • Participate in ward meetings, handovers, and training sessions to continuously improve patient care and professional development.
  • Adhere to all local and national policies, procedures, and guidelines, including safeguarding and health & safety.

Required Skills

  • Previous experience (at least 6 months) in a healthcare support role or relevant care environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrable empathy, compassion, and a patient-centred approach to care.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Basic IT skills for documentation and record-keeping.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to undergo visa sponsorship process if applicable.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience with electronic patient record systems.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
