Job Description
This role as a Cloud Engineer at Career.zycto offers a compelling opportunity for a skilled professional to shape the future of our cloud infrastructure and service delivery. Based in our Bearsden, Glasgow office, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing highly available, scalable, and secure cloud solutions across both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure platforms. We’re looking for someone passionate about cloud technologies, eager to tackle complex server deployment challenges, and committed to best practices in infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation.
You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of cloud services, from initial architecture and resource provisioning to ongoing monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting. This involves working closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure our cloud environments meet stringent performance, reliability, and security requirements. A significant part of your role will involve hands-on deployment and management of virtual servers, containers, and serverless architectures, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and applications.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure.
- Automate cloud resource provisioning, configuration, and deployment using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates).
- Deploy, configure, and maintain virtual servers, containers (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless functions.
- Monitor cloud environments for performance, security, and cost optimization, implementing necessary adjustments.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated application and infrastructure deployments.
- Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure robust and compliant cloud solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to cloud infrastructure, networking, and application deployment.
- Implement and enforce security best practices across all cloud environments and server deployments.
- Stay abreast of new cloud technologies and industry best practices, proposing innovative solutions.
- Participate in on-call rotations for critical incident response as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch).
- Proven experience with Azure services (Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, VNet, Azure SQL Database, Azure Functions, Azure AD).
- Strong understanding of server operating systems (Linux, Windows Server) and administration.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls).
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
- Knowledge of database administration (SQL and NoSQL).
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
