Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Engineer with extensive experience in AWS, Azure, and on-premises server deployment to join our innovative team in Ballymena. As a key member of our infrastructure squad, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing robust, scalable, and secure cloud environments across both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure platforms. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud architecture principles, infrastructure-as-code methodologies, and hands-on expertise in deploying and maintaining complex server solutions.

Your day-to-day will involve collaborating closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure our cloud infrastructure aligns with best practices, performance standards, and business objectives. You’ll be responsible for automating infrastructure provisioning, configuring network resources, implementing security controls, and optimizing cloud costs. Beyond cloud platforms, your expertise will extend to traditional server deployment and management, ensuring seamless integration and operation of hybrid environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure platforms.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation/ARM templates.
  • Automate deployment, monitoring, and operational tasks using scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Windows and Linux servers, both in cloud environments and on-premises.
  • Implement and manage network configurations, including VPCs, VNETs, subnets, routing, and security groups/NSGs.
  • Monitor cloud resource utilization, performance, and costs, implementing optimizations where necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to security best practices, compliance standards, and data protection policies.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications into cloud environments and provide technical guidance.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide timely resolution for critical infrastructure issues.
  • Document cloud architectures, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Required Skills

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Cloud Engineer or similar role.
  • Proficiency in AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, CloudWatch).
  • Proficiency in Azure services (VMs, Storage Accounts, VNETs, Azure AD, Monitor, App Services).
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates).
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, Load Balancing).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI).
  • Scripting proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate / Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack.
  • Experience in a hybrid cloud environment.
