Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Systems Administrator to join our remote team, based out of Hope Bay, Portland Parish, Jamaica. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the deployment, management, monitoring, and maintenance of our cloud-based infrastructure and services. This includes ensuring the high availability, scalability, and security of our cloud environments, primarily focusing on AWS and Azure platforms. You will work closely with our development and operations teams to optimize cloud resources, implement best practices, and automate routine tasks. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of cloud architecture, network security, and robust problem-solving abilities. Key Responsibilities
- Manage, monitor, and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) including virtual machines, storage, networking, and databases.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for cloud deployments, ensuring automation and efficiency.
- Ensure security best practices are applied to all cloud resources and services, including access management and vulnerability patching.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide timely resolution to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Develop and maintain documentation for cloud infrastructure, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with development teams to design and implement scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
- Perform regular backups and disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and propose improvements to our existing infrastructure.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls within cloud environments.
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical incident response.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Cloud Systems Administrator or similar role.
- Proficiency in managing and deploying resources on AWS (EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, Lambda) and/or Azure (Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, VNet, Azure SQL Database).
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls) in a cloud context.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Solid understanding of security principles and practices in cloud environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent certifications.
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Familiarity with ITIL framework and incident management processes.
