Job Description

Are you a highly skilled and precision-focused CNC Operator with a passion for manufacturing excellence? Mega Pak Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Full-Time CNC Operator to join our dynamic and expanding manufacturing team in Ruwa, Harare Province. This is a pivotal role that directly impacts the quality, efficiency, and innovation of our production processes, specifically in the creation and maintenance of molds, tools, and intricate components vital for our advanced packaging solutions.

As a CNC Operator, you will be instrumental in the end-to-end process of programming, setting up, and operating Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the accurate, timely, and quality-controlled fabrication of parts according to stringent engineering specifications and design blueprints. You will be expected to work with a diverse range of materials, utilizing both conventional and multi-axis CNC machines to transform raw stock into meticulously finished products. Your expertise will be crucial in interpreting complex technical drawings, blueprints, and G-code, translating intricate design specifications into precise machine operations with meticulous attention to detail. This role demands a high level of precision and an unwavering commitment to producing flawless components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC machines (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.) to perform various machining operations.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and G-code instructions to determine machining operations, sequences, and dimensions.
  • Monitor machine operations, detecting malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusting controls as necessary.
  • Perform quality checks on finished products using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished parts efficiently and safely.
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Troubleshoot issues during the machining process and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to optimize production processes and improve product quality.
  • Record production data, including quantities, dimensions, and operational issues.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a CNC Operator or similar role.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code/M-code.
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming and machine operation.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant vocational training or certification in CNC machining.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software.
  • Knowledge of various materials, including plastics and metals.
  • Experience with multi-axis CNC machines.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and machine interface.
