Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, sort, and organize incoming food donations and inventory accurately.
  • Inspect food items for quality and safety, discarding any spoiled or expired products in accordance with guidelines.
  • Prepare and pack food hampers according to specific client needs and program guidelines.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of food distribution events, including tables, signs, and supplies.
  • Load and unload food items from vehicles, ensuring safe handling and transport.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the storage and distribution areas at all times.
  • Provide friendly, respectful, and helpful assistance to community members during food pick-ups.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and volunteers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and food handling regulations and protocols.

Required Skills

  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs (11 kg) regularly and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and clear communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and highly dependable with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (an asset, but not required).
  • Food Handler's Certificate (or willingness to obtain one upon hire).
