Job Description
Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and empathetic Community Mobilizer Outreach Worker to join our dedicated team in Waithaka, Nairobi. This pivotal role involves being the direct link between our organization and the communities we serve, fostering trust, understanding local needs, and facilitating participatory development initiatives. As a Community Mobilizer, you will spend significant time on the ground, engaging with community members, local leaders, and stakeholders to identify challenges, co-create solutions, and ensure that our programs are relevant, impactful, and sustainable. You will be instrumental in organizing and coordinating various community activities, workshops, and awareness campaigns aimed at improving livelihoods, promoting health, education, and social cohesion within the Waithaka sub-county. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular community visits and outreach activities within Waithaka to build rapport, establish trust, and gather insights on community needs and aspirations.
- Facilitate community meetings, focus group discussions, and workshops to promote active participation and ownership of local development initiatives.
- Identify and map local community assets, leaders, and key stakeholders, fostering strong working relationships with them.
- Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of various community development programs, ensuring alignment with project goals and community priorities.
- Mobilize community members for participation in program activities, including training sessions, awareness campaigns, and health outreaches.
- Collect and document qualitative and quantitative data from the field, contributing to accurate reporting and program evaluation.
- Act as a liaison between the community and Career.zycto, ensuring effective communication flows and addressing concerns in a timely manner.
- Support the identification of vulnerable individuals and households, linking them to appropriate support services and resources.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport and establish trust with diverse community members.
- Strong understanding of local cultural norms, traditions, and community dynamics in Nairobi.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging field environments.
- Basic computer proficiency (MS Office Suite, data entry).
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
- Organizational skills for planning and coordinating community events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Community Development, Sociology, or a related field.
- Previous experience (at least 1 year) in community mobilization, outreach, or social work, particularly in urban informal settlements or similar contexts.
- Knowledge of local dialects spoken in Waithaka, Nairobi.
- Experience in data collection methods and tools for community-based programs.
