Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene.
- Provide medication reminders and ensure adherence to prescribed schedules.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed, considering dietary restrictions.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, such as tidying living areas, laundry, and maintaining cleanliness.
- Offer companionship, engage in meaningful conversations, and participate in recreational activities.
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and exercises as prescribed or appropriate.
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, or social outings.
- Monitor and report changes in the client's health, behaviour, or condition to the appropriate family members or medical professionals.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for the client.
- Provide emotional support and encourage independence while ensuring safety.
Required Skills
- Proven empathy and compassion for the elderly.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to perform light physical tasks and assist with mobility.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.
- Patience and a positive, encouraging demeanor.
- Ability to follow instructions and care plans accurately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in Home Care, Caregiving, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Previous experience working with elderly individuals, particularly those with conditions such as dementia or limited mobility.
- Proficiency in both Swahili and English.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation (an advantage but not mandatory).
- Certification in CPR/BLS.
