Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Administer medication reminders and assist with adherence to prescribed schedules.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary needs and preferences.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities.
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
- Monitor and report changes in clients' health, behavior, or well-being to supervisory staff.
- Accompany clients to appointments and assist with errands as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and any observations.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols and CARITAS Rwanda guidelines.
- Offer emotional support and foster a respectful, caring relationship with clients and their families.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in caregiving or a related field (minimum 6 months)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High degree of empathy, patience, and compassion
- Ability to perform light physical tasks and assist with client mobility
- Reliability and strong sense of responsibility
- Basic understanding of first aid and emergency procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certification in caregiving, nursing assistant, or home health aide
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda and working knowledge of English or French
- Experience working with elderly individuals or persons with disabilities
- Knowledge of local community resources in Kamembe, Rusizi
