Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with daily personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
  • Administer medication reminders and assist with adherence to prescribed schedules.
  • Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary needs and preferences.
  • Provide companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
  • Monitor and report changes in clients' health, behavior, or well-being to supervisory staff.
  • Accompany clients to appointments and assist with errands as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and any observations.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols and CARITAS Rwanda guidelines.
  • Offer emotional support and foster a respectful, caring relationship with clients and their families.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in caregiving or a related field (minimum 6 months)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High degree of empathy, patience, and compassion
  • Ability to perform light physical tasks and assist with client mobility
  • Reliability and strong sense of responsibility
  • Basic understanding of first aid and emergency procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certification in caregiving, nursing assistant, or home health aide
  • Fluency in Kinyarwanda and working knowledge of English or French
  • Experience working with elderly individuals or persons with disabilities
  • Knowledge of local community resources in Kamembe, Rusizi
