Are you a meticulous and experienced compliance professional with a strong understanding of the regulatory landscape governing financial institutions? Standard Bank is seeking a dedicated and proactive Compliance Officer to join our dynamic team in Pretoria, Gauteng. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies and procedures in line with local and international regulatory requirements (e.g., FIC Act, POPIA, FAIS, AML/CFT).
- Conduct regular risk assessments and compliance reviews across various business units to identify potential areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to business stakeholders on complex regulatory matters, new product development, and operational changes to ensure compliance from inception.
- Monitor regulatory developments and legislative changes, assessing their impact on the bank's operations and updating internal policies accordingly.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports to relevant authorities accurately and within stipulated deadlines.
- Coordinate and facilitate internal and external compliance audits, ensuring timely provision of information and follow-up on findings.
- Deliver training and awareness programs to employees on compliance policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Investigate and report on compliance breaches, ensuring appropriate remedial actions are taken and documented.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a compliance role within the financial services industry.
- Solid understanding of South African financial regulatory frameworks (e.g., SARB, Prudential Authority, FSCA, FIC).
- Proven ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into practical business processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and concisely.
- High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Commerce, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., CAMS, CIPP/SA, Compliance Institute of South Africa).
- Experience with compliance management systems and technology solutions.
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
