Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Concrete Pump Operator to join our dynamic construction team in Nairobi. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining concrete pumps effectively and safely on various construction sites. Key Responsibilities
- Operate concrete pumps (boom and line pumps) safely and efficiently on construction sites.
- Perform pre-operation inspections (DVIR) of the concrete pump and related equipment, ensuring everything is in optimal working condition.
- Set up, clean out, and dismantle concrete pumping equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and site requirements, including proper hose handling and disposal of concrete washout.
- Monitor concrete mix and flow, adjusting pump settings as necessary to ensure optimal delivery pressure, consistent placement, and concrete quality.
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, concrete truck drivers, and other crew members to coordinate pours and ensure seamless operations.
- Adhere strictly to all site safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Conduct routine maintenance, lubrication, and minor repairs on concrete pumping equipment to maximize uptime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Maintain accurate logs of daily operations, maintenance activities, and fuel consumption for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and perform on-site adjustments or notify maintenance personnel for complex repairs.
- Ensure the cleanliness and good working order of the concrete pump and associated tools after each use.
- Participate in safety briefings and training sessions as required to stay updated on best practices and regulations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 4 years) as a Concrete Pump Operator.
- Valid heavy commercial vehicle driving license (e.g., Class G or equivalent in Kenya).
- Thorough knowledge of concrete pumping equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and understand site plans, blueprints, and concrete pour schedules.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve equipment issues.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a focus on coordination and safety.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions and challenging construction environments.
- High level of attention to detail and unwavering commitment to safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certification in concrete pumping operations or heavy equipment operation from a recognized institution.
- First Aid and basic fire safety training certification.
- Experience with different types and brands of concrete pumps (e.g., Putzmeister, Schwing, Zoomlion).
- Familiarity with construction projects and regulations in Nairobi and surrounding areas.
