Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa is actively seeking a highly skilled, meticulous, and dedicated Conference Setup Technician to enhance our thriving events team. In this critical full-time role, you will play an absolutely instrumental part in guaranteeing the flawless and professional execution of all conferences, meetings, presentations, and a wide variety of special events hosted within the sophisticated settings of our magnificent resort. Key Responsibilities
- Execute the complete setup and configuration of audio-visual equipment, including projectors, screens, microphones, sound systems, and lighting for all conferences and events.
- Perform comprehensive pre-event checks to ensure all technical equipment is fully operational and resolve any potential issues promptly and efficiently.
- Provide expert on-site technical support during events, troubleshooting any AV or technical difficulties that may arise to ensure uninterrupted proceedings and client satisfaction.
- Collaborate closely with the Events team, clients, and other resort departments to thoroughly understand event requirements and translate them into effective technical setups.
- Manage the inventory of all conference equipment, ensuring proper storage, scheduled maintenance, and timely repair of all audio-visual assets.
- Assist with the physical setup and arrangement of event spaces, including staging, flexible seating arrangements, and décor as needed to meet event specifications.
- Conduct thorough post-event teardown, careful packing, and safe storage of all equipment, ensuring the venue is returned to its original pristine state.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times, strictly adhering to all resort safety protocols and industry best practices.
- Stay updated with the latest audio-visual technology and industry trends to proactively recommend improvements and enhancements to our event offerings and capabilities.
Required Skills
- Proven experience of at least 2 years as an AV Technician, Conference Setup Technician, or a similar technical role.
- Solid theoretical and practical understanding of audio-visual systems, including sound mixers, projectors, lighting boards, and video conferencing tools.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues effectively and efficiently under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with guests, clients, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 25 kg) and stand for extended periods during event setup and operation.
- Basic knowledge of IT networking concepts as they relate to modern audio-visual systems.
- Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is essential for effective communication within our international resort environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certification in audio-visual technology, event production, or a related technical field.
- Previous experience working in a luxury hotel or resort environment, specifically with conference and event facilities.
- Proficiency in Swahili to better communicate with local staff and clients.
- Experience with event management software or booking systems.
- A diploma or degree in a related technical field such as electronics, sound engineering, or media production.
