Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Construction Foreman to join our dynamic team in Quatre Bornes. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, crucial for overseeing daily operations on our construction sites. This role involves direct supervision of crew members, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. As a Construction Foreman, you will be the backbone of our on-site execution, responsible for translating blueprints into tangible structures and fostering a productive, safe, and efficient work environment. Your ability to communicate effectively, solve problems swiftly, and lead by example will be paramount to your success and the successful delivery of our projects. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of construction workers, subcontractors, and equipment on site.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to guide site operations.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule.
- Manage material inventory, ensuring timely ordering, delivery, and proper storage of supplies and equipment.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks and enforce strict adherence to all company and regulatory safety protocols.
- Train new workers and provide ongoing guidance and mentorship to the construction crew.
- Operate heavy equipment and machinery when necessary, and ensure proper maintenance of all tools.
- Perform quality control checks on all aspects of construction work to meet company standards.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts on site proactively and efficiently.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Construction Foreman or in a similar supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other construction documents.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Physical stamina and dexterity required for hands-on work and site supervision.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certification in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience with project management software.
- Knowledge of local Mauritian building codes and regulations.
- Fluency in English and Mauritian Creole.
