Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Foreman to lead our on-site teams for upcoming projects in Malindi, Kilifi County. As an integral part of our project management team, the Construction Foreman will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring that all construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires a hands-on leader with a proven track record in managing diverse construction crews, coordinating subcontractors, and meticulously tracking project progress against established timelines and budgets. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and an unwavering commitment to site safety and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily construction activities on site, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of skilled and unskilled laborers, fostering a productive and safe working environment.
- Enforce strict health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols, conducting regular safety briefings and inspections.
- Monitor work progress, identify potential delays or issues, and implement corrective actions in collaboration with the Project Manager.
- Manage and optimize the use of materials, equipment, and resources on site to prevent waste and ensure efficiency.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications, providing clear instructions to the construction team.
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of services and materials.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure all work meets M.Y. Construction's high standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare daily progress reports, site logs, and incident reports, maintaining accurate records of site activities.
- Identify and resolve on-site operational and technical challenges promptly and effectively.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership and team management abilities in a construction setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of motivating and directing a diverse workforce.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations (OSHA, local standards).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
- Sound knowledge of site planning, resource allocation, and project scheduling.
- Ability to operate various construction tools and equipment safely and efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Building Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience with construction management software or tools for reporting.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations in Kilifi County, Kenya.
