Job Description
KBW Construction is seeking dedicated and physically capable Construction Labourers to join our vibrant team on a new building site project in Ocho Rios, St. Ann. This is a temporary position that offers on-site temporary lodging for the duration of the project, designed to support our team members who may be travelling from various parts of the island or prefer the convenience of living close to the job site. As a Construction Labourer, you will be an integral part of our construction crew, performing a variety of essential tasks that contribute to the successful and timely completion of our building projects. Your day-to-day activities will involve manual labour, operating basic hand and power tools, assisting skilled tradespersons, and ensuring a clean and safe work environment. This role is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and safety of the construction site. We are looking for individuals who are reliable, have a strong work ethic, and are committed to adhering to all safety protocols. While previous construction experience is a plus, we are willing to train motivated individuals who demonstrate a willingness to learn and contribute positively to our team. Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Assist skilled tradespersons (e.g., masons, carpenters, electricians) as directed.
- Prepare and clean construction sites by removing debris, trash, and hazardous materials.
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Dig trenches, compact earth, and level ground as needed.
- Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
- Erect and dismantle temporary structures, scaffolding, and barricades.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Report any safety hazards or incidents to the site supervisor immediately.
- Perform other general labour duties as assigned by the site supervisor.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labour, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Basic understanding and adherence to construction site safety practices.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Punctual and dependable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6+ months) working on a construction site.
- Familiarity with various construction tools and equipment.
- Valid general construction safety certification (e.g., OSHA 10-hour equivalent).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
