Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and store construction materials, tools, and equipment delivered to the site.
- Organize and maintain accurate inventory of all materials, ensuring easy access and accountability.
- Safely transport materials to various work areas on the construction site using appropriate manual or mechanical methods (e.g., hand trucks, pallet jacks, or with supervision, light equipment).
- Assist skilled tradespeople (carpenters, masons, electricians) by fetching and positioning materials as needed.
- Load and unload construction waste and debris, ensuring proper disposal and maintaining a clean work environment.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision, adhering to all safety guidelines.
- Perform general labour duties as required, including site preparation, cleanup, and minor demolition tasks.
- Adhere strictly to all site safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Inspect materials for damage or defects upon arrival and report any discrepancies to the site supervisor.
- Assist with the setup and dismantling of temporary structures, scaffolding, and work areas.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Strong understanding and commitment to construction site safety procedures and protocols.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Basic numeracy skills for counting and verifying material quantities.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions diligently.
- Good communication skills to interact with supervisors and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience (6+ months) working on a construction site or in a warehouse/manual labour role.
