You will work closely with site supervisors, foremen, and other team members, playing a vital part in maintaining an organized and hazard-free construction site. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and log incoming construction materials and equipment, verifying quantities against delivery manifests.
- Safely unload materials from delivery vehicles using appropriate tools and techniques (e.g., manual lifting, pallet jacks, forklifts if certified).
- Organize and store materials in designated laydown areas, warehouses, or storage containers, ensuring proper labeling and accessibility.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of materials on-site, conducting regular stock checks and reporting discrepancies.
- Distribute materials to various work areas on the construction site as requested by supervisors or tradespeople, minimizing downtime.
- Operate basic construction equipment and tools safely and effectively as required for material handling.
- Assist with general site clean-up and organization, ensuring a tidy and safe working environment.
- Adhere strictly to all company and site-specific safety regulations and procedures.
- Report any damaged materials, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards to the site supervisor immediately.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external vendors.
Required Skills
- Proven physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly throughout the day.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety protocols and best practices.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for inventory management.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic communication skills to interact with supervisors and colleagues.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience (6 months – 1 year) in a construction, warehouse, or material handling role.
- Valid forklift operator certification (an asset but not mandatory).
