Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all day-to-day operational activities on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Develop, monitor, and update project programmes, ensuring adherence to key milestones and deadlines.
- Lead, motivate, and manage site teams, including direct labour and subcontractors, fostering a productive and safe working environment.
- Implement and enforce strict Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure quality control and adherence to design specifications and industry standards.
- Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, architects, engineers, and local authorities to resolve any site-related issues promptly.
- Manage site logistics, procurement of materials, and plant hire to optimize efficiency and resource utilization.
- Prepare and submit accurate progress reports, financial updates, and forecasts to senior management.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges throughout the project lifecycle, implementing effective solutions.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives and best practices across all site operations.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Construction Site Manager role, with a focus on commercial or residential projects.
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
- CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Card – Manager level.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Thorough knowledge of construction methods, regulations, and quality standards.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project).
- Full UK Driving License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or HND/HNC in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Membership of a professional body such as CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building).
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Experience with sustainable construction practices or BREEAM projects.
- Proficiency in BIM software.
