Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring strict adherence to project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Implement and rigorously enforce health, safety, and environmental protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel and stakeholders.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel effectively to optimize productivity, workflow, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor project progress against schedule and budget, proactively identifying potential delays or cost overruns and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, prepare detailed progress reports, and maintain accurate site documentation and records for compliance.
  • Facilitate effective communication channels between project managers, clients, engineers, and the on-site team to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Resolve day-to-day operational issues and challenges efficiently, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and decisive leadership.
  • Oversee the quality control process, ensuring all work meets required industry standards and is compliant with local building codes and regulations.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff and apprentices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, skill development, and professional growth.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) as a Construction Site Supervisor or in a similar leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment, and current safety regulations (OHS/WHS).
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate diverse teams.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and project specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets and schedules effectively, driving projects to successful completion.
  • Valid Australian driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Current OHS/WHS certification and an unwavering commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Carpentry, Bricklaying) or a tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • Experience with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Aconex, Microsoft Project).
  • Local knowledge of the Collie region and its specific regulatory environment, including local councils and suppliers.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced construction environment.
