Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring strict adherence to project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Implement and rigorously enforce health, safety, and environmental protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel and stakeholders.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel effectively to optimize productivity, workflow, and resource allocation.
- Monitor project progress against schedule and budget, proactively identifying potential delays or cost overruns and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Conduct regular site inspections, prepare detailed progress reports, and maintain accurate site documentation and records for compliance.
- Facilitate effective communication channels between project managers, clients, engineers, and the on-site team to ensure seamless project execution.
- Resolve day-to-day operational issues and challenges efficiently, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and decisive leadership.
- Oversee the quality control process, ensuring all work meets required industry standards and is compliant with local building codes and regulations.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff and apprentices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, skill development, and professional growth.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 5 years) as a Construction Site Supervisor or in a similar leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment, and current safety regulations (OHS/WHS).
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate diverse teams.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and project specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets and schedules effectively, driving projects to successful completion.
- Valid Australian driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Current OHS/WHS certification and an unwavering commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Carpentry, Bricklaying) or a tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Current First Aid certification.
- Experience with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Aconex, Microsoft Project).
- Local knowledge of the Collie region and its specific regulatory environment, including local councils and suppliers.
