Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily construction site activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Manage and motivate on-site teams, including subcontractors and laborers, to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality of workmanship, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Identify and resolve on-site issues and challenges promptly, escalating complex problems to the Project Manager when necessary.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, progress reports, materials usage, and incident reports.
- Ensure proper utilization and maintenance of equipment and materials on site.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to interpret designs and implement construction methods.
- Implement and enforce the company's health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Assist in the scheduling and coordination of material deliveries and equipment deployment.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings to promote a safety-conscious culture among all site personnel.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Construction Supervisor or similar role in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations (OSHA, local standards).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional certification in construction safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
- Experience with various types of construction projects (e.g., commercial, residential, infrastructure).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Fluency in English and Mauritian Creole; French is a plus.
