Key Responsibilities
- Perform physically demanding tasks such as digging trenches, lifting and carrying heavy materials (e.g., bricks, cement bags, tools), and loading/unloading supplies.
- Assist skilled tradespeople (carpenters, masons, electricians, plumbers) with various tasks, including preparing materials, holding tools, and providing general support.
- Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris, clearing obstacles, and ensuring a tidy and safe work environment at all times.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision (e.g., shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, simple cutting tools), adhering strictly to all safety guidelines and operational procedures.
- Mix and pour concrete, mortar, and other construction materials accurately as directed by supervisors.
- Assist with the setup and dismantling of temporary structures, scaffolding, and safety barriers according to site requirements.
- Transport materials and equipment around the construction site efficiently and safely, minimizing potential hazards.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times without exception.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order, cleaning them after use and promptly reporting any defects or damages to supervisors.
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with other team members, supervisors, and subcontractors to meet project deadlines and uphold quality standards.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) safely and repeatedly.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Willingness to learn new skills and follow instructions effectively.
- Basic understanding and commitment to site safety protocols.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and an ability to take direction.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Some prior experience in manual labor, landscaping, or similar physically demanding roles (even informal).
- Valid Kenyan identification (ID) card.
