Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Contract Architect to join our project team in Nyanga, Manicaland Province. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the architectural vision and development of our esteemed properties, with a primary focus on the Troutbeck Resort and potential future developments within the region. As a Contract Architect, you will play a crucial role in conceptualizing, designing, and overseeing various architectural projects, from minor renovations and upgrades to potential new constructions. You will be responsible for translating project briefs into detailed architectural plans, ensuring compliance with local building codes, environmental regulations, and our high brand standards.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in hospitality or commercial architecture, with a keen eye for detail, sustainability, and aesthetic excellence. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, project managers, engineers, and external contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality. This role requires a proactive individual with exceptional problem-solving abilities, capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive architectural designs, plans, and specifications for various projects, including renovations, extensions, and new builds, primarily for hospitality properties.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and site analyses to inform design decisions and ensure optimal functionality and aesthetic appeal.
  • Prepare detailed architectural drawings, schematics, and construction documents using CAD and BIM software.
  • Ensure all designs comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards in Zimbabwe.
  • Collaborate with structural engineers, interior designers, landscape architects, and other consultants.
  • Oversee project progress, conduct regular site visits, and provide architectural supervision to ensure adherence to design intent and quality standards.
  • Manage project documentation, tender processes, and contractor selection support.
  • Present design concepts and project updates to management and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, addressing challenges proactively.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and other relevant architectural software.
  • Strong understanding of Zimbabwean building codes, regulations, and construction practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and site supervision.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing relevant architectural design work in commercial or hospitality sectors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Architecture or a related field.
  • Professional registration with the Architects Council of Zimbabwe (ACZ).
  • Extensive experience in hospitality architecture or large-scale commercial developments.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles and green building certifications.
  • Experience with contract negotiation and administration.
