Job Description

Mimosa Mining Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Contract Finance Officer to join our finance department in Zvishavane. This is a critical contract role designed to support our financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all fiscal matters. The Contract Finance Officer will be instrumental in managing various financial processes, including financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and adherence to regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses for management review.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, monitoring performance against budget.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all relevant financial regulations, accounting standards (IFRS), and company policies.
  • Manage general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of robust internal financial controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Prepare and submit statutory returns, including VAT, PAYE, and other ZIMRA requirements.
  • Conduct financial data analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost efficiency.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors during financial audits.
  • Provide financial advice and support to various departments within the company.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Pastel Evolution)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling)
  • Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Solid knowledge of Zimbabwean tax laws and ZIMRA regulations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional certification such as ACCA, CIMA, or ICAZ
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a finance role, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems implementation or migration
  • Proven track record of managing financial projects or process improvements
