As a Cook, you will be a cornerstone of our kitchen operations, responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation of a diverse range of dishes. You will work closely with the kitchen management team, contributing to menu planning, inventory management, and maintaining a spotless and efficient kitchen environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, including traditional Basotho and international cuisines, according to recipes and quality standards.
  • Ensure all food preparation and cooking adheres to strict food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations.
  • Assist in menu planning, portion control, and inventory management to minimize waste and optimize stock levels.
  • Monitor food quality and freshness, promptly addressing any discrepancies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment at all times.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow.
  • Manage time effectively to prepare meals for various dining services (breakfast, lunch, dinner, catering).
  • Adapt cooking methods to accommodate special dietary requirements and guest preferences when necessary.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Cook in a restaurant, hotel, or catering setting.
  • Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Excellent understanding of food safety and sanitation principles (HACCP or similar).
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for culinary excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Culinary diploma or certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Experience with Basotho traditional cuisine.
  • Ability to speak Sesotho.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of inventory software or systems.
