Mokhotlong Hotel & Conference Centre is actively seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cook Assistant to join our culinary team in Menoaneng. As a Cook Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our kitchen, supporting our experienced chefs in preparing delicious meals for our guests. You will be involved in everything from basic food preparation and maintaining kitchen cleanliness to assisting with plating and ensuring a smooth service flow. We are looking for an individual who is reliable, detail-oriented, and has a genuine interest in learning culinary techniques. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Head Cooks and Chefs with food preparation, including chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and preparing basic dishes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, including washing dishes, sanitizing workstations, and ensuring proper storage of food items.
  • Monitor food stock and assist in managing inventory, reporting any shortages to the kitchen management.
  • Operate basic kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as blenders, mixers, and ovens.
  • Support the culinary team during peak service hours, ensuring timely delivery of food items.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP principles).
  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring all products are checked for quality and freshness.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team atmosphere within the kitchen.

Required Skills

  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to food hygiene and safety standards.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods and lift moderately heavy items.
  • Reliability and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (at least 6 months) in a kitchen or food service environment.
  • Relevant certification in food handling or culinary arts.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
