As a Courier Driver, you will be the face of our company, responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate delivery and collection of packages to and from various locations within Derby and the surrounding areas. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load, transport, and deliver packages to customers and businesses across Derby and surrounding areas.
- Plan and optimise delivery routes using navigation tools and company procedures to ensure timely and efficient service.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the delivery vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery and collection records, utilising handheld scanners and digital tracking systems.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries and collections, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanour.
- Adhere strictly to all road safety regulations, company policies, and procedures.
- Handle packages with care, ensuring their integrity from collection to delivery.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and management regarding any delivery delays, issues, or changes.
- Assist with sorting and organising packages in the warehouse or loading bay as required.
Required Skills
- Valid UK Driving License (Category B minimum)
- Clean driving record with no more than 3 penalty points
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 25kg comfortably and safely
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Familiarity with using GPS devices and navigation applications
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety checks
- Demonstrated reliability and a strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a courier driver, delivery driver, or in a similar logistical role
- Good geographical knowledge of Derby and the immediate surrounding areas
- Experience with handheld scanning devices and digital proof of delivery systems
- Strong customer service background
