Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis of new and existing loan applications, including business financial statements, personal credit histories, and collateral evaluations.
  • Assess creditworthiness, identify potential risks, and assign appropriate credit ratings in accordance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Prepare detailed credit proposals and memos, presenting a clear and concise summary of findings, analysis, and recommendations for approval to senior management.
  • Perform periodic reviews of the loan portfolio to monitor performance, identify early warning signs of distress, and recommend proactive risk management strategies.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all internal lending policies, procedures, and external financial regulations specific to Mauritius.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, relationship managers, and other internal departments to gather necessary information and clarify financial data.
  • Participate in the development and refinement of credit risk models, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, economic indicators, and regulatory changes affecting the credit landscape in Mauritius.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Credit Analyst or in a similar financial assessment role (minimum 2.5 years).
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in financial statement analysis and cash flow projections.
  • Excellent understanding of credit principles, risk management methodologies, and lending best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial modeling.
  • Solid knowledge of local financial regulations and compliance requirements in Mauritius.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or equivalent.
  • Fluency in French and Mauritian Creole.
  • Experience with specialized credit analysis software or CRM systems.
