Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking dedicated and vigilant Part-Time Crowd Control Safety Marshals to join our team in Fairy Meadow, Wollongong. This essential role is critical in ensuring the safety, security, and smooth flow of patrons and operations across various events, venues, and public spaces. As a Crowd Control Safety Marshal, you will be the frontline ambassador for safety, responsible for maintaining order, preventing incidents, and responding effectively to any situations that may arise. You will work closely with event organizers, venue management, and emergency services to uphold the highest standards of public safety.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve more than just observing; you will be an active participant in creating a secure and positive environment. This includes managing queues, guiding pedestrian traffic, monitoring for suspicious activities, and enforcing venue policies with a professional and approachable demeanor. Effective communication is paramount, as you will interact with diverse groups of people, providing assistance, directions, and de-escalating potential conflicts. We are looking for individuals who possess a calm temperament, strong observational skills, and the ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a visible and professional presence to deter disorderly conduct and ensure public safety.
  • Monitor crowd movements and behavior, identifying and addressing potential risks or issues promptly.
  • Control access points, manage queues, and direct pedestrian traffic efficiently and safely.
  • Enforce venue policies and regulations in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Provide clear and courteous assistance, directions, and information to patrons.
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies, and medical situations according to established protocols.
  • Liaise effectively with event organizers, venue staff, and emergency services.
  • Complete incident reports and daily logs accurately and thoroughly.
  • Conduct regular patrols to ensure the security of designated areas.
  • Assist in the evacuation of premises in the event of an emergency.

Required Skills

  • Valid NSW Security Licence (Class 1AC – Crowd Controller, Security Officer)
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Proven experience in crowd control or security roles (minimum 6 months)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong observational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
  • Professional demeanor and appearance
  • Physical fitness to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in large event environments or licensed venues
  • Certificate II or III in Security Operations
  • Experience with conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques
  • Knowledge of local laws and regulations pertaining to public safety and security
