Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process import/export declarations through the Integrated Cargo System (ICS) accurately and timely.
- Assist senior customs brokers with tariff classification, valuation, and duty/GST calculations.
- Liaise effectively with clients, freight forwarders, and shipping lines to obtain necessary documentation and resolve queries.
- Ensure full compliance with Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (ACBPS) regulations and other relevant government agency requirements.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all customs clearance documentation.
- Monitor shipment statuses and provide updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Research and stay updated on changes in customs legislation, tariffs, and trade agreements.
Required Skills
- Minimum 18 months of experience in customs clearance, freight forwarding, or a related import/export role.
- Proficiency with Australian Customs Integrated Cargo System (ICS) and other relevant customs software.
- Solid understanding of Australian customs regulations, tariff classifications, and Incoterms.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in International Freight Forwarding or Customs Broking.
