Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit all necessary import/export declarations and related customs documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure strict compliance with national and international customs laws, regulations, and tariffs (e.g., Union Customs Code).
  • Determine correct tariff classifications (HS codes) and valuation for a wide array of goods.
  • Liaise effectively with customs authorities, freight forwarders, carriers, and clients to resolve any customs-related issues or discrepancies.
  • Calculate and process duties, taxes, and other charges, ensuring correct payment and accounting.
  • Maintain meticulous records of all customs clearance processes, entries, and related correspondence.
  • Advise clients on customs procedures, documentation requirements, and potential duty savings programs.
  • Stay informed about changes in customs legislation, trade agreements, and global compliance standards.
  • Assist in audits and provide necessary documentation for review by customs officials.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a Customs Clerk or in a similar customs-related role.
  • In-depth knowledge of German and EU customs regulations, including tariff classifications (HS codes) and valuation principles.
  • Proficiency in customs software systems (e.g., ATLAS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in German and English.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
