In this front-line role as a Remote Cyber Security Analyst, your responsibilities will include actively monitoring our extensive networks and endpoints for any anomalies or suspicious activities, diligently responding to security incidents with precision and urgency, and collaborating seamlessly with various cross-functional teams to implement and continually refine robust security measures. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform continuous monitoring of security systems, logs, and alerts to detect and respond to potential cyber threats.
  • Conduct thorough incident response activities, including investigation, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-mortem analysis.
  • Execute vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on systems and applications, providing actionable recommendations for remediation.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security into the SDLC and operational workflows.
  • Provide security awareness training and guidance to employees on best practices for data protection.
  • Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity trends, vulnerabilities, and threat intelligence.
  • Manage and configure security tools such as SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and firewalls.
  • Participate in security audits and compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to relevant frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR).
  • Prepare detailed reports on security incidents, vulnerabilities, and overall security posture for management.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with incident response methodologies and tools.
  • Knowledge of common security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001) and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys) and penetration testing techniques.
  • Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • Relevant security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH, CySA+, GSEC).
  • Experience with security in a remote or distributed team environment.
  • Knowledge of secure coding principles and application security.
  • Experience with threat modeling and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Previous experience working with or in the African tech ecosystem.
