Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and proactive Remote Cyber Security Analyst to join our expanding team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in safeguarding our digital assets, sensitive data, and critical infrastructure from an increasingly complex array of cyber threats. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a passion for cybersecurity to contribute to a dynamic, forward-thinking environment from the comfort of their home base in Mahalapye or anywhere else in Botswana.

As a Cyber Security Analyst, you will be at the forefront of threat detection, prevention, and response. Your day-to-day will involve monitoring security systems, analyzing logs, identifying potential vulnerabilities, and responding to security incidents with precision and efficiency. We are looking for someone who thrives on challenges, possesses strong analytical capabilities, and is committed to continuous learning in the fast-paced world of cybersecurity. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, providing expert guidance and implementing best practices to maintain a resilient security posture. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor security systems, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, and firewalls, for alerts and anomalies.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of security incidents, determine root causes, and implement containment and remediation strategies.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify and address security weaknesses.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and documentation in line with industry best practices.
  • Participate in incident response activities, including forensics, reporting, and post-incident analysis.
  • Provide expert advice and support on security-related matters to various internal teams.
  • Stay current with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, recommending proactive measures.
  • Administer and troubleshoot security tools and technologies to ensure optimal performance.
  • Educate and train employees on security best practices and awareness.
  • Assist in compliance audits and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of network protocols and security architecture.
  • Proficiency with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools.
  • Experience with vulnerability management and penetration testing tools.
  • Solid knowledge of incident response procedures and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, Linux) and cloud environments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CySA+, or CISSP.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001, POPIA).
  • Prior experience working in a fully remote or hybrid work environment.
