Job Description

SBM Bank is seeking a dedicated, proactive, and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Analyst with a specialized focus on protection and risk management to join our robust IT Security team, based in Stanley, Rose Hill. In an increasingly complex and evolving digital landscape, this role is critical to maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our sensitive data, critical systems, and digital infrastructure. The successful candidate will be instrumental in identifying, assessing, and mitigating cyber threats, ensuring strict compliance with local and international regulatory requirements, and continuously enhancing our overall security posture against sophisticated attacks.

This role requires a strong understanding of various cybersecurity domains, including network security, endpoint protection, data loss prevention (DLP), and identity and access management (IAM). You will collaborate closely with various IT and business units across the organization to implement and enforce stringent security policies, conduct engaging security awareness training programs, and actively participate in security architecture reviews. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform continuous monitoring and analysis of security systems (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, EDR) for security incidents, anomalies, and potential threats.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, coordinate penetration testing efforts, and execute comprehensive risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential threats and vulnerabilities within our systems and applications.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce robust security controls, policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with industry best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and strict regulatory requirements (e.g., local banking regulations, PCI DSS, GDPR).
  • Lead and participate in security incident response activities, including forensic analysis, containment, eradication, recovery, and thorough post-incident review and reporting.
  • Manage, maintain, and optimize various security tools and technologies, ensuring their optimal performance, accurate configuration, and effective integration.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance, and recommendations on cybersecurity best practices, emerging threats, and secure design principles to IT and business teams.
  • Actively participate in security architecture reviews and contribute to the secure design and implementation of new systems, applications, and infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct engaging and informative security awareness training for employees across all levels to foster a strong, security-conscious culture within the bank.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on the organization's security posture, incident status, risk profile, and compliance levels to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, attack methodologies, technologies, and intelligence to proactively enhance defense mechanisms.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (3+ years) as a Cybersecurity Analyst, Security Engineer, or similar role, preferably within the financial services sector.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux), cloud security principles, and virtualization technologies.
  • Proficiency with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), firewalls, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions, and anti-malware technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys, OpenVAS) and familiarity with penetration testing methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of common attack vectors, threat intelligence, and digital forensics principles.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and local data protection laws (e.g., Data Protection Act of Mauritius).
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex security issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong documentation and technical report writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), CySA+, GSEC, CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), or CISM (Certified Information Security Manager).
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation of security tasks and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.
  • Familiarity with security practices in containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
